Pastoral Care
We have said many “goodbyes” this year, but we have also said many “hellos” and welcomed new visitors.
Some of or elderly members are either home bound or have moved some distance away, making it difficult for
them to attend services with us. We maintain contact with them and have made visits to their homes.
Over the past year we also said goodbye to three visionaries who had a large part in the creation of
Valleyview; Dr. Richard Bond, Kitty Mahood and David Storey. They left us with a legacy that we need to
carry out with similar zeal and commitment.
Some of our visitors have become regular attendees and we are blessed by their presence in our midst. Our
prayer is that they will find what God has for them here, and that they will become an integral part of the
Valleyview family.
One of the elders took an eldership course and found it very encouraging to the role of providing pastoral
care to the congregation. We are praying that there will be others who will answer the call to be elders, and
prayer partners.
Our prayer group was meeting on Mondays but is now meeting on Tuesdays evenings. We believe if we are to follow
the scriptural direction to “bear each other’s burdens” we have to allow God to remove some obstacles; this can
only happen through praying for each other and together with each other.
We also are exploring, and are excited about implement a new small group ministry that will address some of
the relational, and pastoral care needs of our church. We look forward to God providing enthusiastic leaders,
who will lead these groups and continue to build on the sense of community that Valleyview is known for, and be
open to whatever new and exciting things the Holy Spirit wants to stir-up in our lives.
